Nothing is more frustrating than trying to charge a vape pen, and it refuses to charge. And if this happens when you have a tremendous urge to vape, the frustration can worsen. Fortunately, the problem is minor, and you can fix it at home (or wherever you are).

If your vape pen is not charging, there might be several reasons. The issues could range from simple ones like faulty cables to more complex ones like electronic component malfunction. Luckily, most of these problems are easy to troubleshoot and rectify. Contact the manufacturer if you need help figuring out what’s happening with your vape pen.

The issue could range from loose connection and faulty cable to dead battery. Below, we’ll discuss some common issues that would prevent your vape pen from charging and provide solutions to help you get the vape pen charging again.

Faulty Charging Cable

A faulty or damaged cable is one of the most common reasons your vape pen won’t charge. Over time, the cable can become worn out, the wiring becomes frayed, or the connector becomes loose. Check for any visible damage to ascertain the problem.

You can also try using a different cable to see if it works for your vape pen. If it does, the problem is the original cable. You should replace it. You can also remove the battery and charge it with an external charger. The battery could be a problem if it doesn’t charge.

Dirty Charging Port

A dirty charging port can also cause a vape pen not to charge. Over time, dust, debris, and e-liquid residue can accumulate in the charging port. This dirt can prevent the connection between the vape pen and the charger.

Clean the charging port gently with a soft cloth or a cotton swab dipped in rubbing alcohol to solve the issue. When cleaning, ensure the vape pen is turned off and disconnected from the charger. Make sure the port is dry before attempting to charge the vape pen.

The Battery is Depleted

It might seem obvious, but sometimes, your vape pen is not charging simply because the battery is completely drained. Using the vape pen till all the charge depletes could give you a hard time when you try to recharge.

So what should you do? Observe the LED light indicators if your vape pen has a built-in battery. If the LED light does not turn on or blinks when connected to the charger, it could indicate the battery is depleted.

In this case, allow the vape pen to charge for at least an hour and then attempt to power it on. If the battery is depleted, it should charge normally. However, the device failing to light up could also mean the vape pen is fully charged. Try using it before plugging in the charger.

The Charger and Vape Pen Are Not Compatible.

You may have seen your friends charging their vape with a phone or car charger. And because you can’t access your charger, you decide to try the same. Unfortunately, yours is not charging, and you now think it has a problem.

Vape pens come with their charger. And like some phones, some pens can only charge with their chargers. Before you condemn the vape pen, check its manufacturer’s specifications. The charger you use may not provide enough power. Use a charger that meets the manufacturer’s specifications.

The Power Source Could Be the Problem

If all the above checks don’t work, the problem could be the power source, not the vape pen. Plug the vape pen into a different power source to see if it will charge. Alternatively, you could plug another device into the power source to see if it will work. If it works, the problem lies with the vape pen.

The Battery is Dead

If your vape pen still doesn’t charge after trying the above, it could mean the battery is completely dead. At this point, there’s nothing you can do. If your pen has a removable battery, replace the battery. However, if the pen has a permanent battery, you must replace the entire device.

Remember that the vape pen battery can’t die out of the blues. It might have given you signs that you ignored. So, how do you tell the battery is coming to the end of its lifespan? Some signs may include recharging too often and the charge depleting too quickly. The battery could also overheat too often.

If the above is false, the pen could have suffered physical damage that damaged the charging system. Dropping and exposing it to water or extreme temperatures can damage or disconnect internal components, leading to charging issues. Unfortunately, if you are not a technician, you can do nothing. You can contact the manufacturer if the damage falls within your warranty. If not, look for a technician to repair it.
