We love this DIY for front porch curtains, a recent installation in the Bokesch household. In keeping with the other porches in the neighborhood, the curtains offer shade, some screening from bugs, a little privacy and I think they’re pretty!

We used rope purchased at Home Depot to create the curtain rods. And eye hooks to attach the rope to the house and posts.

I measured the porch and added a few feet to that measurement to plan for the knots. I also planned about 5 extra feet for the tie back. At Home Depot, they measure and cut the rope for you. And it was less than $20!

As you install the rope and curtains, you do have to thread the curtains on the rope before tying the knots. I did choose curtains with grommets for the sake of easy sliding.

We love the airy feel of these curtains. If you prefer a cleaner look, outdoor curtain tension rods are available but cost a bit more.

Have a great day everyone!
